Great River

I've always had a soft spot for this installation as it was the first public art project where I was a lead designer rather than serving as a production resource. It was designed along with Carolyn Braaksma for the Winona State University Library entrance foyer in Winona, MN and funded through the Minnesota Percent for Art in Public Places. Because of Winona's site along the Mississippi River we chose to create a "river of quotations" and depict other images of objects that refer to the history of the region. The river form includes approximately 1300 cut brass letters which make up fourteen quotations by regional authors. All the quotations are related to education and/or flows of water.
